Guess what?!! I just found out that my ancestor is a wali!! He's my nenek's moyang!! How cool is that?! He was alive during the Stamford Raffles time. The name is Habib Noor, quite famous in SG 'coz got his makam and all. Just now during buka, my brother and mom was telling stories abt him that they heard from my nenek. And i just checked internet, they all said the same thing! Here's the excerpt:
Not much is known about the early life of this famous 19th century saint except that he came from the northern Malaysian state of Kedah and lived for a while in Penang an island off the coast of Kedah. He was a direct descendant of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.). He was an Arab from Hadramaut, the area of southern Arabia that is now known as Yemen.
He made his appearance in Singapore after the island became a British colony in 1819. He came into prominence because being a majdhub he did things that are out of the ordinary. He loved children who liked to accompany him everywhere he went. He would enter a shop, take out all the money from the cash drawer and throw it to the waiting children. Those shopkeepers who were aware of his holy state did not make any attempt to stop him and were rewarded by Allah with prosperity in their business thereafter

Such activities however, were frowned upon by the British colonial masters who tried to put him in jail a number of times. However, after doing this many times, they finally gave up and left him alone. The reason? Each time he was arrested, and put in jail, he mysteriously disappeared from his cell and was seen outside walking free. This is one of the signs of awliya, their service to God has set them free from man.
People in those days flocked to see him and sought the blessings of his sincere invocation. Since those were the days of sailing ships, traveling by ship was often hazardous and it took a few months to sail from Singapore to Jeddah, Arabia. Muslims planning to sail back to Indonesia, India and Arabia made it their practice to come and ask him to pray for their safe journey.
Stories on Habib Noh often revolve around his miracles--especially his incredible ability to appear in a number of places at the same time. He had been seen in Mecca when it was known that he has not left Singapore. He has been known to say farewell to travellers leaving Singapore with the words 'I will be there when you arrive'. When the traveller reached his destination months later, Habib Noh would be there to welcome him at the harbour.
Once a prominent Singapore businessman was about to set sail before lunch-time on a certain day. He received word that Habib Noh wanted to have lunch with him in his house that very day. Because of his love for this great wali, he did not depart on the ship that day but stayed behind to have lunch with Habib Noh.He did not know at that time that Habib Noh--who was also known for his gift of knowing about events to come and his state of unveiling (kashf)--had come to lunch with a purpose. That was to prevent him from sailing on a ship that was doomed to be shipwrecked near Penang a few days later, going down with most of its passengers.
A gentleman by the name of Tok Mat, who owned a horse carriage, used to take Habib Noh on rides in his carriage. One night Tok Mat was returning home alone in his carriage felt quite frightened, as Singapore, one-hundred years ago, was not a safe place as it is now. Robbers and bandits were everywhere, waiting to take unwitting travelers by surprise. Tok Mat felt fearful and wished Habib Noh was there to protect him. He turned around and was shocked to see Habib Noh sitting in his carriage and smiling at him.Its magic!!! Woots! Long ago, my mom said, got a lot of this magic, the good ones i mean. but black magic is still prevalent during those times. Nowadays, u don't really hear much of such things happening( the white magic i mean) but my mom say still got. Haha, he can do Kage Bunshin No Jutsu!!
BTW, just now, they were also talking about my neighbour who lives downstairs. Its scary...
That time, she was originally from Indonesia and live in kampong and stuff. Then, at night, she was giving birth but it was a sudden one, so no one was accompanying here. Her mother and husband was in the house but wasn't near her at that time. Then, a penanggal appeared in her room. She screamed for help, but they couldn't hear her and the penanggal began to suck her blood. The baby died but she just fainted in her pool of blood. Thank goodness her mother felt that something was wrong and went to her room. The penanggal then quickly fly away. She couldn't have another baby anymore since then ( or so.. i was too scared to really hear the details lol) Thats f***ing sick... Gross!!!
Oh got another story about my nenek when she was giving birth to my uncle.
Everytime they need medical help, they always contact this woman called err..Mineh? Haha, around there lah. But its the wrong person 'coz she brings 'things' with her and keep 'things'.
Then, during the child birth, they called a doctor instead. That mineh person usually got this pelesit animal thingy that she sends to drink the blood when the woman giving birth before she start to help her give birth. But then, 'coz my atuk at that time has very strong ilmu, she didn't dare try anything and stood away from the childbirth scene. when my atuk told her to come, she refused and said she was scared even though the truth was she couldn't take the blood. That pelesit thing will also drink her blood if she didn't provide it with blood. Like seriously, what's the benefits of taking care of such things?!
oh, and the husband died 'coz she let the pelesit drink his blood.-_- What a b*tch! The worse part is her daughter lah!! The daughter very pretty but no one wanted to marry her because they were scared of the mother. The whole kampung also knows that the mother like to beat her daughter up until she bleeds and let the pelesit drink the blood. What kind of sick creature would do that sia?!! And the kampung also, just bystanders ah! Why never help?! The daughter finally got married after her mother died. Hmph, good riddance.
AND I HATE EXAMS! ITS A PAIN IN MY LIFE, NOT ONLY IN THE ASS!!

From the web:
Avalokiteshvara's mantra (Om Mani Padme Hum) embossed on the inner ringlet, which turns on an outer ring. The design is inspired by the Mani wheels popular in Tibet. A symbol of a dorje is also included in the ring (The symbol in the center in the right picture above). Wait, i think its Hinduism, not Buddhist. Ah, whatever, its cool so i don't care!
